John "J.R." Pagliarini has more than 30 years of national, state and local government, non-profit and business experience.
Throughout his professional career, Mr. Pagliarini has served in key leadership roles as Chief of Staff to the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, Chief of Staff and Senior Executive Advisor to Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, Deputy Chief of Staff to Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri, State Director for United States Senator Lincoln Chafee, Associate Commissioner of Higher Education, and interim Executive Director of the Rhode Island College Foundation.
In these positions he successfully carried out a broad range of executive responsibilities including strategic planning, staff recruitment, intergovernmental and community relations, and policy and organizational development.
Prior to those assignments, Mr. Pagliarini was Director of Government Relations for United Healthcare of New England for which he managed lobbying efforts in Providence, Boston and Hartford. He previously served as Communications Director and Community Development Director in Warwick, Rhode Island. He has managed two statewide political campaigns.
Mr. Pagliarini received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Fairfield University and Master of Arts from the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University.
He is currently President of the ALS-Rhode Island Chapter and serves on the boards of the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership, Amos House Capital Leadership Campaign, Independence Trail Education Foundation, Small Business Loan Fund Corporation and Providence Foundation.
